In British Columbia, mushroom foraging is not allowed in National Parks, Provincial Parks, Regional Parks, Recreation Areas and Trails, and Provincial Conservancies.
Mushroom foraging is allowed on Crown land, private land, and indigenous reserves with permission.
If foraging on private land or indigenous reserves, you must obtain permission from the land owner or the Nation’s officials, respectively.
Foraging on Provincial Forest Crown Land is allowed, however you must be mindful of sites that have active logging. These sites may experience road closures or have limited availability for public access. It is crucial to be aware of which sites are safe to access and at what time.
This is a helpful map from the Government of B.C. showing the foraging availability status of land throughout B.C.
